WHY am I doing this?

Hi, Friend!

WHY am I Doing this?

The world is currently crazy. Fascists and measles are on the rise. It seems we get to just run other sovereign nations now. Our government is invading Minnesota. My friends who are Black and brown, who are queer, who are women - well, all of us, really - are afraid. I can’t keep up with the news and I’m happier when I don’t, and also I can’t look away and no one can.

This is not normal. It is not ok.

And there’s tragically little any one of us can do. So I’m choosing instead to focus on making ONE THING BETTER.

I’m offering a free three-day oboe workshop next week, and you can register today.

WHY do I do this? It’s a lot of work to put together groups of oboists, it’s a lot of effort to craft a three day workshop or a 12-week program. I’m busy in my actual life, AND it feels like democracy is over - WHY am I adding this workshop onto my plate?

It’s because I believe in YOU. I believe in the power of music and musicians. I believe that oboists want to add more beauty to the world (and we NEED more beauty in the world!) and that in many cases they are STYMIED by their equipment, by the difficulties of the instrument, by their own internal dialogues about self-worth and ability.

I believe that if you are a person who has CHOSEN this complicated, high-maintenance instrument to be your voice in the world, you are my people. And I want my people to succeed!

If you are feeling pessimistic as HELL these days, I hear you. There are things we cannot control. But we can come together and we can find some EASE in this one realm.

I love the oboe. I love music. And I love YOU.

Register here for Three Essential Skills to Uplevel your Playing (And Your Life!), and I’ll see you Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday for a community experience that will ALSO teach and inspire!

Stay safe out there. I love you all

Happy Oboe-ing,

Jennet

PS: Three Essential Skills to Uplevel Your Playing is happening on January 21, 22, and 24. Replays will be shared, but only if you sign up!

I'll be sharing a lot in these next few weeks about the Happiest Musician Accelerator. If you know for sure that it is NOT for you? Click here and I won't bother you again until my launch is over. Hi, Friend! I had eight services last week and a ton of coaching calls. This week I have three entire days blocked off for a recording/performance project and a ton of zooms. It's a busy time, and I bet it's super busy for you too! For musicians, April is the December of Spring, and we are all...

Hi Reader, Too often, I come to the oboe FAST, URGENTLY, in a hurry to get my practicing done, to jump into the interesting rep, to get ready for rehearsal after a commute. A minute ago I was in the car, in the kitchen, shooing my child out the door for school. I need something - a transition period - to get me into the work I have to do. The work of sound, of pitch, of ease, of control. I need to find myself on the oboe before I can BE the oboe for someone else, whether that’s the conductor...
